    • An international gala for haiti
Final trial – selection for opera singers
Min chung conducting the chamber ensemble “bernasconi”

On Wednesday, May 3, at 9:00 pm, the top students from the world’s three preeminent ballet schools will take turns on the Teatro alla Scala stage in a gala international event benefiting the Francesca Rava NPH Italia Nonprofit Foundation for children in Haiti.

The young talents at the La Scala Academy Ballet School will perform alongside students from the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School of the American Ballet Theatre and from the Agrippina Vaganova Academy of St. Petersburg, accompanied by the La Scala Academy Orchestra conducted by David Coleman.

All proceeds from the evening will go to the Saint Damien Children’s Hospital in Haiti, planned and built by the Francesca Rava Foundation.

The Gala programme will open with excerpts from Cinderella, choreography commissioned by the Fondazione Bracco to Frédéric Olivieri on music by Sergej Prokof’ev.

Then the students of the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School of American Ballet Theatre will perform the pas de deux from La Source by George Balanchine with music by Léo Delibes, while the Vaganova Academy dancers will highlight their virtuosity in the famous pas de deux of the Black Swan from The Swan Lake by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
To the students of the Scala Ballet School it is therefore entrusted the interpretation of Un ballo Jiří Kylián, among the most versatile and prolific choreographers in the contemporary choreographic scene.

In closing, a final défilé with students of all the schools on the Great March of Wagner’s Tannhäuser.
