Advanced course in classical and contemporary dance

HIGHLIGHTS

01.

FULLY ROUNDED TRAINING

The program provides broad and detailed content, including indepth study of the La Scala dance method and the acquisition of the necessary competencies for teaching dance.

STUDENT TEACHING

A fundamental element in the program is student teaching, which gives students the opportunity to work directly with La Scala Academy Ballet School instructors in dance lessons with pupils in order to apply what they have learned on a daily basis.

TEATRO ALLA SCALA

The teaching staff consists of La Scala Academy Ballet School instructors who share the invaluable experience gained from a long and brilliant stage career, transmitting both technical knowledge and interpretative sensitivity to their students. Leading experts in pedagogy, psychology, psychotherapy, medicine, physiotherapy, and music and dance history complement the core preparation, giving students specific competencies to be applied in educational contexts.

LENGTH AND ATTENDANCE
Two years.
First year: November 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025
Second year: TBD

Exam sessions held in July,September, and January.

Attendance is mandatory. Students must attend at least 80% of overall curricular activities and at least twothirds of each individual subject, measured in hours. Individual study is excluded from this requirement.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND LOAN
Student loans, scholarships, and tuition waivers and other forms of financial support ensure that students have access to a curriculum characterized by unrivaled artistic quality and close contact with the professional world.

Scholarships.
Students who pass the selection process may apply for a DSU regional scholarship. The application process is communicated into the announcement, not yet available for 2024-25.

Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis to students with an appropriate ISEE (Equivalent Financial Status Indicator) for university study and who have earned the required academic credits. The availability of scholarships is contingent on funding from Regione Lombardia.

The La Scala Academy may also issue scholarships covering all or a part of tuition to those passing the selection process and requesting one.

Merit loans and student loans.
The La Scala Academy has established conventions with credit institutes to provide other forms of financial aid covering tuition and/or lodging to all students in good academic standing.

Admission requisites
First-level academic diploma, Italian university degree, or equivalent Italian or foreign academic certificate.

Students with physical or learning disabilities are entitled to compensatory measures. The appropriate certification must be submitted during the application process.
Admission process and program
Applicants who have successfully completed the La Scala Academy’s First-Level Academic Diploma Program in Ballet Instruction (DDPL01) La Scala Academy’s First-Level Academic Diploma Program in Ballet Instruction (DDPL01).

Those holding a three-year diploma from other academies are required to pass the exams for the courses Ballet Teaching Method and Planning 1 and 2 before being admitted to the program. Those holding a three-year diploma from other academies in Technique and Composition (Triennio Tecnico Compositivo) or Contemporary Ballet (Triennio Contemporaneo) are required to pass the exams for the courses Ballet Technique 1 and 2 and Ballet Teaching Method and Planning 1 and 2.

Applicants holding other types of academic certificates are required to pass an entrance exam consisting of:
- an audition;
- a theory test.

The admissions process will be held in person in September 2024 at Academy facilities in Milan. The calendar will depend on the completion of the First- Level Academic Diploma Program. Precise instructions will be provided by the Teaching Office after the application deadline.

Register or login to the Academy application platform at iscrizioni.accademialascala.it.
Your email and the password you choose will become your login credentials [username and password] that can be used again for subsequent visits. You will also be asked to read the privacy notice.

APPLICATION:
After registering, enter the information requested for the specific applicant following the step-by-step. You will asked to download, sign, and attach the Terms & Conditions “Condizioni di contratto per la partecipazione". This step is necessary to proceed with the application process.

ATTACHEMENTS:
  • your passport;
  • 1 passport-sized photo;
  • your full cv signed as described into the official announcement;
  • certificate of fitness to practice non-competitive sports;
  • certificate of first-level academic diploma or of equivalent academic qualifications;
  • eight-year ballet diploma or selfcertification of the same;
  • detailed curriculum of academic certification presented as requisite for admission to the program;
  • other certification attesting to the acquisition of requisite credits (if necessary);
  • certificate of physical or learning disability (if applicable).

FEE:
You will be asked to pay the application fee of € 100 directly online via credit/debit card or credit transfer. The payment must be made online directly through the enrollment platform (do not close the page before paying).
A summary of entered data is generated at the end of the above steps: download it, sign it and upload it again where required. The application will then be completed and submitted to the Students'Office.
