Fatma Said, soprano singer from the Academy of Lyric Opera, is the winner of the 2016 8th edition of the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition.
The jury, chaired by Jane Carty, has rewarded the young Egyptian artist on January 28 after an exciting evening. Among the finalists, there was also the tenor of the Accademy of Lyric Opera Sehoon Moon. The ceremony took place in the National Concert Hall in Dublin, accompanied by the Wexford Festival Orchestra conducted by Patrik Ringborg.
The prestigious award recognizes the talented of the young soprano singer who, during her period of study at the Academy of Lyric Opera, has been distinguished for her impressive interpretations. Currently on stage, at the Teatro alla Scala she performs The Magic Flute for children and Cinderella for children. In September Fatma will be Pamina also in a new production of The Magic Flute by Peter Stein, conducted by Adam Fischer. Brava, Fatma!
