This November, the city of Ragusa will welcome the La Scala Academy for two events.
On November 19, the Academy opens the exhibition Prime Donne – The Heroines of Verdi: lovers, victims, errants at the tiny Teatro Donnafugata in the Ibla district of the Sicilian city.
Produced with the support of Fondazione Bracco, with costumes created by students in the theatre tailors course, the exhibition runs until December 29.
The opera singers from the Academy of Lyric Opera will also take the stage in the same theatre from November 22nd to the 24th in Il barbiere di Siviglia, directed by Marco Gandini, with sets and costumes by the students in the set designers course.
The nineteenth-century theatre in Palazzo Donnafugata is one of Europe’s smallest. Completely restored in 2004, the theatre was awarded the Eurispes Prize in 2006 as one of “The one hundred Italian jewels”. For tickets and information click here.
