On July 20, 2022, at Auditorium Enrico Caruso, the La Scala Academy will take part to the 68 edition of the “Puccini Festival” in Torre del Lago. The artistic director is Giorgio Battistelli.
The “Giorgio Bernasconi” chamber ensemble with soloists, choir and children’s choir from the Scala school will play Wolfgang Rihm’s Jakob Lenz for the occasion, conducted by Marco Angius and directed by Cesare Scarton.
The artistic proposal – by title and performers – fully responds to the Puccini’s intent to celebrate, in the summer of 2022, the year of youth.
In fact, the young performers of the Academy, selected every year to perfect themselves in the repertoire of musical theater, are no more than thirty years old. And the German composer, Composer in residence in Berlin, was only twenty-five years old when he presented his chamber work in twelve paintings and an epilogue on a libretto by Michael Fröhling, loosely based on an incomplete short story by Georg Büchner.
For the students of the Academy this is a particularly laborious testing ground, which has engaged them since June and which adds to the number of concerts and productions with which they are constantly lucky enough to compete.
The feather in the cap of all the courses of the Scala school is in fact the opportunity to tread important stages and confront particularly fine audiences with great expectations, such as that of the Puccini Festival, an excellent opportunity for personal and professional growth.
