Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 8.30pm at the Teatro Ariosto in Reggio Emilia, the “Giorgio Bernasconi” Ensemble will be conducted by Marco Angius in a concert inspired by Kandinsky.
The chamber group, specialized on music of the XX and XXI centuries, will play the Piano Sonata n. 7 op. 64 (1911) by Aleksandr Skrjabin, Five orchestral Pieces op. 16 (1920 – chamber version by the compposer himself) by Arnold Schönberg, …Im Himmelreich, for 9 instruments (1994) by Aldo Clementi, the Konzert op. 24, for 9 instruments (1934) by Anton Webern, the improvisations For Grilly by Franco Donatoni, for 7 instruments (1960) and the Kontra-Punkte for 10 instruments (1952) by Karlheinz Stockhausen.
The event – the first of two – “moves from the artistic and music temperament close to the great painter Kandinsky, the same temperament that explores adventurously expressive universes discharged both by naturalistic figuration – abstractism – and by reassuring traditional harmony – atonality”.
With this concert, the Ensemble opens its season 2017-18; the young artists will be later engaged with three appointments for the Academy Concerts’ series at the Teatro alla Scala Boxes Foyer, on February 15, March 8 and April 13 2018.
