The mezzo-soprano Anna Doris-Capitelli, a student of the Lyricn Academy of Accademia Teatro alla Scala , was awarded with the 2nd Prize in the ninth edition of the Leyla Gencer Voice Competition, a particularly significant edition, ten years after the death of the great turkish soprano, former director of the Scala Academy.
The prestigious award was announced by the President of the jury, Renato Bruson, during the closing of the final Gala held on September 28th at the Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Center in Istanbul, with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Pietro Mianiti.
The authoritative jury of the competition, which saw among the nine finalists of the competition also two former students of the Academy, the soprano Sara Rossini and the mezzo-soprano Chiara Tirotta, has declared the victory of the Turkish mezzo-soprano Ezgi Karakaya, while the third place has been assigned to the Polish tenor Piotr Buszewski. The latter was also awarded a three-month scholarship to attend the course of specialization at La Scala Academy.
