The Accademia 2025 Project debuts on September 6 in the Teatro alla Scala auditorium: Gioachino Rossini's La Cenerentola (Cinderella) will be performed seven times, with audio description also available.
Our Orchestra and Soloists from the current two-year singing course and previous editions, together with the Accademia Choir, will be conducted by Gianluca Capuano in Jean-Pierre Ponnelle's thrilling production, revived by Federica Stefani. As usual, students from the Course for Accompanists will also take part in the production.
Aya Wakizono, a familiar face at the Academy of Singing, returns in the title role, having previously played Angelina in the Theatre's adaptation of Rossini's opera for children.
Please note that an hour before the start of each performance, there will be an introductory lecture on the opera by Raffaele Mellace, at the Ridotto dei palchi “Arturo Toscanini”.
Cinderella, a fairy-tale character par excellence, the embodiment of the dream of revenge that comes true, will be followed - as far as the Academy's commitments at La Scala are concerned - by the story of another woman. This time, a real character, torn between the poetic world born from her pen and the harsh reality of the years in which she lived.
From September 28, the Orchestra, Soloists, and Youth Choir will perform the new title in the “Great Shows for Children and Families” cycle, Anna A. by Silvia Colasanti, a commission by La Scala Theater in its world premiere.
The opera, with a libretto by Paolo Nori in collaboration with Fabrizio Sinisi, focuses on the figure of Russian poet Anna Andreevna Gorenko, better known as Anna Akhmatova. Anna Skryleva will take to the podium, returning to conduct the Academy's musicians after the success of the “Il diritto di suonare” festival concert.
