On Sunday, June 16, 2024, at 8 p.m. at the Teatro alla Scala, it will be the baton of Alessandro Bonato who will conduct soloists and orchestra of the Accademia in the annual institutional concert, which closes, for some of the student soloists, the course of specialization.

The evening will open precisely with the presentation of final diplomas to tenor Pierluigi D'Aloia and bass Huanhong Li, while soprano Greta Doveri will bid farewell to the Academy after attending a third year, an opportunity that is exceptionally reserved by the La Scala School. Alongside them, the concert will also feature sopranos Marĺa Martĺn Campos and Laura Lolita Perešivana, mezzo-soprano Dilan Șaka, tenor Haiyang Guo, baritones William Allione, Chao Liu and Wonjun Jo, and bass Xhieldo Hyseni, who are closing out their first year at the Academy.

Alessandro Bonato is making his Teatro alla Scala debut, but he has already conducted Soloists and Orchestra of the Accademia on several occasions, most recently at the Le Nuits Romantiques Festival in Aix les Bains, France, to great public and critical acclaim.

The program proposed for the La Scala concert allows the students' technical and interpretative talents, honed over a two-year course of study, to be highlighted. As always, there will be moments dedicated exclusively to the orchestra, which will perform the Overture from I vespri siciliani, the Intermezzo from Suor Angelica and the Sinfonia from Giovanna D'Arco.

Then, the soloists will tackle arias and duets from the great operatic repertoire, with pages by Verdi, Puccini, Donizetti, Leoncavallo.

The students, both orchestra and singers, close a particularly busy year, with significant experiences, in Italy and abroad.

Awaiting them soon are new important appointments, first and foremost the “Academy Project,” the opera entrusted to them annually, included in the Teatro alla Scala season. Starting June 24, in fact, they will be engaged in rehearsals of Nino Rota's Il cappello di paglia di Firenze, under the musical direction of Donato Renzetti and directed by Mario Acampa. The opera will be staged at the Piermarini for five performances between Sept. 4 and 18.

If the solo singers continue for their second year of study, the orchestra professors will finish their journey in December, after more than one hundred performances, under the guidance of twenty conductors of great caliber (the names of Marco Armiliato, David Coleman, Koen Kessels, Michele Gamba, Fabio Luisi suffice), three trips abroad (France, Germany, Oman) and to six Italian regions, with stops in more than twenty different cities.

The talents who attend the Academy of Lyric Opera and the Advanced course for orchestra musicians enjoy scholarships, which enable them to tackle the demanding course, offered by public and private institutions and various patrons who espouse the mission of the Scala school: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Milan Foundation for La Scala, Haltra Communities, Messrs. Luigi and Patrizia Staffico, Fondazione Nando ed Elsa Peretti, Hildegard Zadek Foundation, Eredi Targetti in memoria di Luca Targetti, Fondazione Gatta Trinchieri, Fondazione Pietro Pittini, Fondation Cartier pour l’Art Contemporain, Fondazione Equita, Allianz.
