After the success of the first edition - awarded the Medal of Representation of the President of the Republic - “Il Diritto di Suonare,” the first Italian festival dedicated to overcoming gender stereotypes in classical music, returns to Milan.
Conceived and curated by the Classical Rights Association, founded in 2022 by a group of young people under 21, the festival aims to be a space for dissemination, inclusion and reflection.
The central goal is to break down cultural barriers related to instrument choice, conducting and especially composition, to encourage the presence of women in the professional music world and to bring the general public closer to classical music again, giving it a fresh and contemporary image.
The second edition will take place on June 14 and 15, 2025, in collaboration with the Accademia Teatro alla Scala and the City of Milan, with the support of Main Partner Fondazione Bracco and the Region of Lombardy. The most beloved formats will be proposed again: symphonic concerts, chamber music with picnics, informative meetings, flash mobs, all with free admission, spread throughout the city.
Among the scheduled appointments, the central event will be the symphony concert on Saturday, June 14, at 8:30 p.m. at the Fondazione Cariplo Auditorium, with the Academy Orchestra, thanks to the support of the Bracco Foundation; on the podium the charismatic Anna Skryleva, among the most active conductors on the international scene.
Winner of the prestigious Opus Klassik 2024 award, Skryleva is the creator of the Classic for Peace initiative, which brings together young musicians from countries in conflict, and is distinguished for her commitment to artistic projects with a strong social impact. Joining her as soloist is Sébastien Jacot, former first flute of the Berliner Philharmoniker, an eclectic artist known for extraordinary technique and interpretive sophistication.
The program embraces such composers as Chaminade and Farrenc, through Skryleva herself, to Bizet and Stravinsky.
