Every month we tell you what is born in our classrooms: the daily work of the students, their dedication, the talent and excellence of the Scala method.
Today, however, we also want to share with you a broader thought that has been with us for some time. A change about who we are and who we want to become.
Education is a universal right, but it is not truly accessible for everyone.
The Eurydice Report 2023 highlights this: although access to schooling is enshrined in national and international laws, many students still face obstacles in fully benefiting from it. Inflexible educational systems with limited resources do not always succeed in meeting everyone's needs. It is increasingly urgent to rethink teaching methodologies, to make them more inclusive, capable of adaptation.
What is the role of an educational institution like ours today? How can we make it truly inclusive, open, capable of welcoming and valuing the diversity of paths and people?
In the Academy, this awareness has long since initiated a process of deep reflection on our role as an educational institution.
A slow but constant internal process involving people, methods and visions. We want to be a place capable of training a new generation of talent, valuing differences, stories, and creativity.
In 2024, we achieved certification for gender equality-an important recognition that values the attention we pay to those who work, study, teach, and create with us. Promoting equity, supporting women's empowerment, and ensuring an environment based on merit and trust is an integral part of our vision.
Today we take it a step further.
With A.B.C. Academy Building Capacity, the project supported by Fondazione Cariplo as part of the “Let's redesign the Future” call for proposals, we have started a capacity building program to give rise to increasingly virtuous paths in terms of sustainability and development, and we plan to arrive at the drafting of a real charter of values, ranging from work-life balance to the prevention of all forms of physical, verbal and digital abuse, from the improvement of spaces, with the progressive removal of architectural barriers, to DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) policies.
The next step?
Multidisciplinary working tables, to continue turning this vision into concrete actions.
