On March 5, 2022, the first request for help came from the parents of a young Ukrainian dancer fleeing the war, Aleksa, eager to enable their little girl, despite everything, to live her dream and not interrupt her dance studies. The Academy took immediate action.
Since then, many more requests have come in and as many as ten families have been accommodated during this difficult year, providing them with housing and concrete economic support, thanks to Milan Community Foundation's contribution and a fundraising campaign in which patrons, friends, families of the Ballet School and the employees of the Academy themselves have participated.
The girls were placed in the Ballet School classes, as well as in primary school, and were able to study the Italian language together with their families, so that they could integrate into our society.
The young dancers that the Academy has welcomed made their debut at La Scala on May 15, as part of the Ballet School's performance; some of their families have courageously decided to return to their homeland, to reclaim their lives where they have their roots.
Unfortunately, the emergency persists; the Academy is not backing down, but it always needs help to cope.
If you want to commit yourself together with us, you can contribute with a donation. Help us make their dream of freedom more concrete and bring them the promise of a better world.
