On Saturday 15 October, the new title of the series “Great shows for children” makes its world premiere at the Teatro alla Scala: The Little Prince, an opera commissioned by the Theater to Pierangelo Valtinoni on a libretto by Paolo Madron, from the homonymous story by Antoine de Saint -Exupéry.
The title will be represented for 25 performances, until April 2023, and will see alternating on the podium Vitali Alekseenok, Bruno Nicoli and Paolo Spadaro Munitto. Direction is entrusted to Polly Graham. As usual, the preparation and musical interpretation is entrusted to the young students of the Academy – solo singers, orchestra and children’s voices, in addition to the master collaborators.
“Big shows for children” has been offering well-known opera and ballet titles in a reduced and translated version since 2015, made accessible by the younger audience. The Little Prince is the first contemporary title included in the project.
The version signed by Valtinoni and Madron of the well-known story by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry condenses the multiple experiences of the prince who came from space into an hour of music and provides for the active participation of the public, called to create cardboard stars to be used on stage (Download the instructions for making the props here).
The Little Prince will be in the playbill until April 2023; clic here to purchase your tickets.
