La Scala Academy: a two-hundred year

long road

The roots of the La Scala Academy date back to 1813, when La Scala opened the Ballet School, now recognized as one of the most prestigious institutions for international ballet training; in the 1950s, with the creation of the "Cadetti della Scala" school, Arturo Toscanini wanted to give historical continuity to the Italian lyric tradition, always with a view to promoting the growth of young talents, a true La Scala vocation. In the Seventies Tito Varisco, at the time director of stage productions, gave life to the Course for set designers with the aim of transmitting, from generation to generation, the excellence of the creative and manual ability of the La Scala artists.
