The Music Department offers such prestigious courses such as the Academy of Lyric Opera, founded on the will of Riccardo Muti in 1997, to carry on the heritage of the glorious “Scala Cadets” school, established by Arturo Toscanini in the 1950s.
The Course for opera coach/assistant conductor trains pianists to work as rehearsal pianists and to carry out the varied work tied to the collaborative pianist role, such as prompting, conducting and assisting during opera and ballet rehearsals and performances.
The department also offers courses for Orchestra Musicians and Chorus Singers, which train individuals to use their talents in opera-symphony settings. The course for Twentieth Century Repertoire for Chamber Ensemble trains musicians in the musical period of the 1900s.
