Chorus singers

Stampa

The Course for opera and symphonic chorus singers, established in 1999, was created to train singers to reach the highest levels of professionalism in the opera and symphony settings. Course outcomes are to develop proficiency in the reading and understanding of musical texts, increase understanding and sensitivity regarding intonation, and improve stage skills and the ability to work in groups. The artistic supervision is provided by Bruno Casoni, director of the Teatro alla Scala Chorus and taught by, among others, Alfonso Caiani, Massimiliano Carraro, Vincenzo Manno, and Alessandra Molinari.
The course is spread over six months and includes classroom activities - divided into individual lessons, small groups and group lessons - and intensive internship experience.
The internship experience, which is a valuable opportunity to test the acquired skills, provides for participation in the "Academy Project”, an opera which is included annually in the regular Scala season. Some of the most important productions in which students participated in have been Puccini's La Bohème (2000), Donizetti’s Ugo, Conte di Parigi (2003), Parisina (2004), Mozart’s Ascanio in Alba (2006), Cosi fan tutte (2007) and The Marriage of Figaro (2008), Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali by Donizetti (2009), Rossini's L'occasione fa il ladro (2010) and L'italiana in Algeri (2011) and Don Pasquale (2012) by Donizetti.
