In this two-year course for orchestra musicians, the Accademia offer students the opportunity to acquire a wealth of exclusive experience at no charge, actually providing a monthly stipend.

SPOTLIGHT

Numerous occasions to perform on the world's premier stages are offered every year. The Accademia Orchestra has performed in such prestigious international venues as Teatro alla Scala, Turin Conservatory, Teatro Grande of Brescia, Greek Theatre of Pompeii, the Ravello Festival, MITO Settembremusica. It also has a long list of tours to its credit, notable among which are the United Arab Emirates in 2008 and, with Teatro alla Scala, Denmark in 2009, Russia in 2010 (Moscow and St. Petersburg), and Oman in 2011 and 2012.

ON STAGE

The Orchestra regularly takes part in the "Academy Project", an opera on the La Scala season program produced entirely by students. Among the most recent titles featured in the "Academy Project" we mention Così fan tutte, Le nozze di Figaro, Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali, L'occasione fa il ladro, L'italiana in Algeri, Don Pasquale, La scala di seta, Il barbiere di Siviglia and The magic Flute. The Orchestra is also frequently invited by Teatro alla Scala to accompany ballet corps productions, such as A Midsummer Night's Dream, Giselle, L'histoire de Manon and Eugene Onegin.

CONDUCTORS

Over the years, the Orchestra has been conducted by such luminaries as Marc Albrecht, Roland Böer, David Coleman, Placido Domingo, Christoph Eschenbach, Ádám Fischer, Lawrence Foster, Marco Guidarini, Manfred Honeck, Fabio Luisi, Susanna Mälkki, Michele Mariotti, Zubin Mehta, Pietro Mianiti, Yuri Temirkanov and enjoyed the collaboration of soloists of the caliber of Herbie Hancock, Olga Kern, Lang Lang and Alexei Volodin.

Length and attendance
Two years, each consisting of two semesters, from January 2025 to December 2026.

Attendance is mandatory, during the day or evenings depending on the period. Absences must be justified and may not exceed 25% of course hours. Students missing more than 25% of lessons will be expelled from the course. The Academy and Teaching Committee reserve the sole right to make exceptions to this rule.

Permission to perform in non-Academy events is regulated by the educational agreement with Accademia Teatro alla Scala signed by the student at the beginning of the program.
Requisites for admission
- 18 years old or older, born on or after January 1, 1998;
- first level diploma in the instrument that the candidate will play at the audition from an Italian state conservatory or state authorized musical institute or an equivalent academic title issued abroad;
- first-time applicants only, those who have taken part in a previous edition of the course are not eligible for admission.
Selection process
Applicants must pass a two-part selection process as follows:
- performance of all the piece specified in the audition program, downloadable here below (please note that the piece for solo instrument without piano accompaniment chosen by the applicant, required for some instruments, must be communicated when enrolling in the selection process);
- an individual interview to assess the applicant’s aptitude and motivation.

The selection process will begin on November 4, 2024 (unless otherwise communicated).

The selection program, for each instrument, will be published here starting from May 2024.
Fee
The attendance is free of charge.

Your email and the password you choose will become your login credentials [username and password] that can be used again for subsequent visits. You will also be asked to read the privacy notice.

APPLICATION:
After registering, enter the information requested for the specific applicant following the step-by-step. You will asked to download, sign, and attach the Terms & Conditions “Condizioni di contratto per la partecipazione". This step is necessary to proceed with the application process.

ATTACHEMENTS:
  • 1 passport-sized photo;
  • your full cv;
  • certification of studies.

FEE:
You will be asked to pay the application fee of 100€ directly online via credit/debit card or credit transfer. The payment must be made online directly through the enrollment platform (do not close the page before paying).A summary of entered data is generated at the end of the above steps.
