The Academy opens the month of March with an important international commitment.


The first task is scheduled for Thursday 16 on the Auditorium stage of Basil and Marina Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music and for the second year renews its partnership with the Academy, hosting the soloists of the Academy of Lyric Opera for a concert series.

The second involves the participation of the Ballet School at the Athens Megaron Concert Hall for a gala to which were invited some of the world's most prestigious schools: the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow and the Royal Ballet School in London. On this occasion thirty students interpret Evening Songs by Jiri Kylian and excerpts from the Nutcracker, with choreography by Frédéric Olivieri (Waltz of the flowers and Pas de deux, II Act).

Saturday 18, part of the annual exhibition "Concerts of the Academy", in the Boxes Foyer of the Teatro alla Scala, the Chamber Ensemble will perform in a concert directed by Marco Angius with music by Igor Stravinsky (Three songs from William Shakespeare, 1953 and Trois Poesies de la lyrique japanese, 1913), Luca Francesconi (Islands, an opera composed in 1992) and John Adams (Son of a Chamber Symphony, a work of 2007).

Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22, the Ballet School also hosts a masterclass with Monique Loudières, former etoile of the Paris Opera and artistic director of the Ecole Superieure de Danse de Cannes Rosella Hightower. For the school it is a welcome return because Loudières in recent years has guided the students on several occasions, for a series of seminars.
The master classes, reserved for dance teachers for a maximum of 25 participants, provides assistance to some of the lessons Loudières impart to the young pupils of the school, the lessons of theory and technique to deepen the French method, which is joined by the ballet lessons of history, taught by Francesca Pedroni and listening guides edited by Fabio Sartorelli.

Thursday 23 at the Boxes Foyer of the Teatro alla Scala the soloists of the Opera si Balet Studioul Experimental de Ludovic Spiess of Bucharest will perform for the review "International Academy Hosting".

The month ends with the participation in the seventh edition of Danzainfiera (23 to 26), an annual international event dedicated to dance hosted at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence. The Dance Department, present with a stand, will be involved in a series of activities articulated in open classes and seminars in order to explain the wide educational offer.

Lastly, a special event organized by the Bracco Foundation, recently become a Main Partner of the Academy. Wednesday, 15 Diana Bracco (the President) and the Mayor of Milan Giuliano Pisapia reward young people to which the Foundation has provided scholarships. Among these, two students of the Academy, one of the Course for stage photography and one of the Course for costume technicians.
