The Accademia del Teatro alla Scala, thanks to contributions from Freddy, which is already an official sponsor of the Ballet School, is making its debut in e-learning, with the first online course in Italy for teachers of classical-academic dance.
The Scala learning institution is unique on both the national and international levels, due to its authoritativeness and the wide selection of professional training courses it offers. Now, for the first time, through the forward-looking use of distance learning, the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala is making it possible for a vast audience of dance teachers to access the highest level of methodology in dance instruction.
Centered on the fundamental barre techniques, the course is reserved to dance teachers who have already completed six years of study.
Special care was taken in choosing course contents: thanks to simple and refined graphics and extensive explicatory material – audio-visual, slow motion, interactive quizzes, specific focus on principal technical aspects, methods and pedagogy – the program guarantees a thorough educational experience, providing teachers with the tools needed to conduct barre lessons in the most appropriate and efficient manner.
The course is divided into 11 modules, each one dedicated to a specific step; a variety of exercises are offered for each step, to account for various difficulty levels and methods of execution.
A final test for each module allows for continuous evaluation of the student’s learning.
A tutor is also available to guarantee ongoing help for technical problems related to the platform and questions related to dance technique.
Students who complete the online course have the option to test the competences they have acquired online at the headquarters of the Ballet School, where they can be evaluated live. Upon passing this test, students will be awarded a certificate stating they have passed the course.
