The heart of the Dance Department, directed by Frédéric Olivieri since 2003, is made up of the Ballet School, an institution founded in 1813 and headed over the years by a series of prestigious experts and celebrated dancers. Since 2006, Olivieri himself has also been director of the school.
The Ballet School lasts eight years and offers a series of courses that fulfills the expectations of international dance companies, which today require an increasingly wider and more varied repertoire that is not strictly tied to the classical-academic realm.
In addition to the training for professional dancers, there is a two-year Course for dance instructors, which allows private dance teachers to learn the methods taught by the Ballet School. There is also a 5-year Course for beginners, reserved for children aged 6 – 10, and summer workshops.
